Educational Services

Therapeutic support for educational success after TBI is provided by our skilled speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and cognitive-learning specialist. Support is provided for high school, college, trade school, GED completion, studying for written driver’s test, etc. Services include, but are not limited to:

  • Remediating speech, language, and cognitive skill limitations resulting from TBI
  • Providing compensatory strategy training and assistive technology to maximize academic functioning
  • Helping with executive functioning skills needed for school, including organization, initiation, task completion, and prospective memory
  • Assisting clients with understanding and completing cognitive-based assignments and developing foundational skills, in complex thinking, reading, writing and math
  • Offering test-taking preparation and strategies to help our clients with successful completion of the ACT/MME, as well as GED preparation, if appropriate
  • Delivering both in-person and online (virtual) services as needed by our skilled therapy staff

Educational Coordinator is available as a liaison between the client and school for the following:

  • Suggesting and setting up academic accommodations
  • Providing guidance with choosing classes to match skill level
  • Accompanying client to college campus to help with navigating to classes
  • Attending IEP’s, college advising appointments and accommodations appointments
  • Assisting with student portal access to review assignments, grades, online discussions
  • Maintaining communication with the student’s teachers to ensure success with blending therapeutic and educational efforts
