Physical Therapy

The Physical Therapy team provides a full range of comprehensive and specialized physical therapy services to clients recovering from traumatic brain injury, as well as a wide variety of physical injuries that are seen in conjunction with traumatic accidents. We have a team of qualified and experienced physical therapists who are skilled in assessing and treating neurological, vestibular, and musculoskeletal disorders that limit an individual's ability to fully participate in daily movement with less pain and daily functional activities. Our team strives to assist clients to increase their safety and independence, and to develop and enhance functional skills such as transfers, walking, and engaging in occupational and recreational activities.

Physical therapy treatment sessions are always provided on a one-on-one basis to build a trusting therapeutic relationship and ensure the client’s needs are paramount. Each client is evaluated for their individual needs and a goal-oriented treatment plan is created. We find it important to educate the client and the family/caregivers in the rehabilitation process as this provides support and encouragement that the client needs to produce greater results and to fully achieve personal and realistic recovery goals.

Restore strength and range of motion
Reduce risk of falls/improve safety and independence, especially through the use of the LiteGait unweighting system
Restore core stabilization
Restore cardiovascular endurance
Improve functional movement in the home, at work, and in the community

Therapy Interventions:

Posture and body mechanic education
Gait and transfer training
LiteGait application for unweighting effects
Balance training
Vestibular training
Treatment for muscle coordination, motor planning and motor control
Tone normalization through positioning and movement
Prosthetic and orthotic advocacy in coordination with Occupational Therapy
Aquatic therapy
Modalities as needed such as Ultrasound, Electrical Stimulation, and Traction
