Pre-Driving Evaluation

The Livonia Clinic and Vocational Training Center offers a wide range of experienced clinical therapies, in strong support of clients’ recovery goals and expectations. This can include a Pre-Driving Screening and Training in preparation for a final comprehensive Driver’s Evaluation and On-the-Road Assessment, to receive an approved and valid state of Michigan driver’s license, with or without distance or adaptive equipment recommendations.

Our experienced Occupational Therapists provide a specialized, clinical Pre-Driver’s screening and training to clients recovering from traumatic brain injury, who desire to return to independent driving. Each client participates in a thorough assessment to determine their readiness for an on-the-road driving test. A client’s possible skill concerns in the areas of visual, physical, and cognitive abilities are identified, with a training plan developed to address these skills. Subsequently, a referral will then be made to an associated external Driving Evaluation Specialist, who completes the state-required, On-the-Road Driving Evaluation.
